Yes I know. It has been a while since my last blog, but I'm working on a new concept.
I'm not sure if the game idea that I'm researching is "new" enough. So I started wondering. Do you need to reïnvent the fire to be innovative?
Probably not but that doesn't mean it's easy to bring something innovative to the game industry.

CRO part 3: I love it when a plan comes together.

With only 3% of the players on mobile paying for games it's about time that we have a decent look at the problem.
I wonder what nintendo will do with the new super mario run game. It's gonna be premium but how will they sell it? How many copies will they sell?

Of course Mario and Nintendo are well known brands. They have their fans and do not need much marketing to sell.
Simple indie developers like us on the other hand will need to do a lot more effort to sell and market their games.

Only 3% of the players in free-to-play games ever pay for something in a game. Why?
Is it because it is F2P? Is the audience changing? Are gamers still rating games to its correct value? ​Why do iPhone users pay more for games?

Why are women paying less for games?
When the industry is trying to understand buying behavior they always look at statistics and the "whales". Typical. Isn't it time to look at the players instead?

R.i.P. game design document?

I have dyslexia. Reading and writing takes ages for me.
I love to write this blog and I love to read new articles shared on twitter though. But it all takes twice as much time then with everybody else.
It's the same with the GDD. It's just a nightmare to read it and even worse to write it. Just so no one would read it in the end anyway.
During the development of 4 In a Blow a simple solution presented itself.
